💙 Heart & Soul Beware | October Newsletter 💙

Meeting Them There

We can offer care with a full heart and still miss the person.

What steadies us may unsettle someone else. What we would welcome may be something they cannot use. Even a thoughtful offering can reveal more about the giver than the one receiving it.

October asks us to pause long enough to notice the difference.

To ask before assuming.

To listen when the answer surprises us.

To remember that people change, even when we know them well.

Meeting someone where they are does not mean we can meet every need. It means their reality has a place in how we decide to respond.

Care begins with attention.

Attention may change the offering.

Care begins with understanding another’s reality before deciding how to respond.
It may take attention.
It may take a question.
It may take the willingness to discover that what we intended as kindness was shaped by our own needs.

💜 MONTHLY REFLECTION

Meeting Them There

Many of us learned to treat others as we would want to be treated. It is a good beginning. It also places our own preferences quietly at the center.

Meeting Them There considers what happens when care begins with the other person’s reality. What have they shown us? What do they need? What can we responsibly offer?

Featured line:
Care finds its footing where the other person stands.

🩷 STUDIO REFLECTION

Good Intentions

An offer of help may be sincere. A gift may be carefully chosen. Advice may come from experience. None of these guarantees that the offering fits the person receiving it.

Good Intentions explores the distance between what we mean to give and what someone can receive. Attention asks us to notice when our own preferences have shaped the answer before we have asked the question.

Featured line:
Good intentions matter. Fit matters more.

💙 LEADERSHIP MOMENTS

Individualized Leadership: One Standard, Different Routes

A shared standard does not mean everyone needs the same guidance.

Direction that brings clarity to one person may leave another uncertain.

Recognition that encourages one may unsettle another.

Support that helps someone begin may need to change as their confidence grows.

Individualized Leadership: One Standard, Different Routes considers how leaders adapt feedback, recognition, correction, and support while keeping expectations steady. It asks leaders to understand what each person can use and to examine whether the guidance they offer serves that person’s needs.

The Leader Who Pays Attention holds the shared goal in view while recognizing the different routes people may need to reach it.

Featured line:
The standard was the same for all three. The support each needed to meet it was not.

💜 WITHIN

Attention Is the Gift

Knowing someone does not mean our understanding of them is complete. Preferences shift. Seasons change. People become more than the versions we remember.

In Attention Is the Gift, B. M. Barnes reflects on two gifts shaped around two different recipients and the curiosity that allows love to keep learning.

Featured line:
Sometimes the gift is being seen before anything is chosen.

🩷 MONTHLY REFLECTION EXPERIENCE

‍October’s Monthly Reflection Experience offers a private place to consider the care you give, the assumptions you carry, and what attention might change.

💙 HEART & SOUL BEWARE CIRCLE

Meeting Them There

October’s H&SB Circle conversation invites us to consider the person on the receiving end of our care.

  • Where have you felt understood without having to explain everything?

  • When has a well-meant offering missed you?

  • How do you listen for what another person needs while remaining honest about what you can give?

There is room for different experiences and answers still taking shape.

🩷 DIAMOND HEART, FROZEN SOULS

The world of Eiradia continues to take shape ahead of publication.

H&SB Circle members can begin exploring through Chapter One, select character videos, the full-color glossary, and battlefield and military videos.

💙💜🩷 Looking Ahead

Care can begin before we know what to offer.

In a question.
In a pause.
In the willingness to hear an answer different from our own.

As October unfolds, may we pay attention to the people before us. May what we learn be allowed to shape what comes next.

With gratitude,
B. M. Barnes
